Case Study – Leadership Development – Jonas
Jonas Software is a global software business with significant presence throughout the UK, with the UK Group office headquartered in Oxfordshire.
Working closely with the Jonas Steering Committee to support the company’s leadership and development vision; to design, implement and deliver a 12-month Talent Development Leadership Programme to provide Senior Managers within the Group the opportunity to develop the skills and competencies to meet the business goals.
At the most basic level the programme sought to provide an awareness of how teams function but, most importantly how, as Leaders, individuals need to operate commercially while retaining a mindfulness of their impact on their employees.
The programme’s objectives were various: to support the overall Group’s UK acquisition strategy; prepare Jonas Group UK employees to take on senior roles within the UK Group companies; provide people management and business skills to effectively steer and lead group companies; enrich learning and development; and, embed the core organisational competencies.
Following an initial meeting with their Head of Human Resources and Regional Business Unit Managers we developed a modular programme of activity. This included psychometric assessments to understand behavioural preferences, and was supported throughout by individual coaching, wrapped around the workshop sessions.
The Programme was launched and run over a 12 month period and required delegates to actively put into practice learnings from each session and feedback their progress.
Day-long workshops (run in collaboration with internal sessions) enabled participants to interact with their peers and share learnings and experiences.
Throughout the programme we also provided 1-2-1 coaching with our executive coach; this enabled individuals to explore, more fully, their own behaviours and developmental needs.
Nine delegates, some of whom were already running Jonas UK businesses, successfully graduated from the programme in September 2017. Since graduating 2 of the 9 delegates have been promoted.
Spin-off training sessions were subsequently requested by the Organisation for middle managers and the wider employee base within the businesses.
