Improving the Quality of Teaching (SAAF) ™

The Schools’ Assessment & Appraisal Framework (SAAF)™ has given schools we’ve worked with the necessary clarity and structure to underpin the new national Teachers’ Standards, supporting the implementation of Performance Related Pay with a firm focus on professional development. We have also supported schools in developing competency frameworks to provide similar clarity for other groups of staff. The success we have had working with schools reflects our collaborative and supportive approach which maximises staff engagement.

Testimonial

SYLO Associates are great to work with – they listen and respond to individual needs, are challenging but supportive and are highly skilled and adaptable. Our work with them has enabled us to develop and implement a sharp, focused appraisal process, which will enable managers to be more consistent, staff to develop their professional capability in a targeted way and the school to provide competencies based evidence of staff performance

Skills4Employability

Our skills programme on CV writing and interview skills have been designed for those in education with a focus on students identifying and harnessing skills they have gained and highlighting the skills employers are looking for. Our workshops can also be supported by the use of Thomas Education’s psychometric testing. The PPA (Personality Profile Assessment) has been developed to look at working strengths, providing a unique link between education and work with the young person’s version of the PPA helping students understand their strengths in the work place and improve self awareness, confidence and focus.

Sarah and Sally from SYLO Associates are loyal and enthusiastic supporters of Lord Williams’s School.  Their involvement includes the development and delivery of a range of Sixth Form workshops with an employment related focus, providing work experience placements, and attending the School Business Breakfast meetings.  The advice and guidance that SYLO Associates provide is based on extensive business experience and a specialised knowledge of people recruitment and management.  When working with our students, Sally and Sarah adapt this experience to the classroom situation to successfully engage and inform our young people in their preparation for the workplace.

I am delighted with and very grateful for the support SYLO Associates has shown Lord Williams’s School and I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with them in the coming years.

Case Study

The Schools’ Assessment & Appraisal Framework (SAAF)™ gives schools the necessary clarity and structure to underpin the new national Teachers’ Standards, supporting the implementation of Performance Related Pay with a firm focus on professional development.

The success we have had working with schools has been due to our collaborative and supportive approach which maximises staff engagement. Our work with the South Abingdon Cluster demonstrates how our collaborative approach achieved the best and most cost-effective outcome for the seven primary schools involved. The smallest of these schools had just 50 pupils with the largest school having 152 on the roll.
