Team-Building with a CSI suit!
SYLO Associates have collaborated on several Team-building Corporate Days with event specialists Right Angle. Run by ex-Scotland Yard detectives, Right Angle bring a fresh new perspective to the usual group activities team-building days are known for.
Even if you have the best team in the world, there is always room for improvement.
With an increase in flexible and remote working, employees are more likely to communicate electronically and less in person; however “people need people” and much research indicates the ongoing need for people to communicate face to face and the business benefits that ensue. This is why we’ve found team building events make a meaningful and measurable difference by cementing relationships that help businesses thrive.
Team Building has evolved so much in the last five years, people don’t want to do the traditional “raft building” or “trust falls” any longer; those activities have their place, but most people just aren’t interested anymore.
Earlier this year, SYLO Associates worked with the London and Zurich’s senior management team on a two day event. We used a series of Right Angle’s forensic challenges (including surveillance and finger-printing) in conjunction with bespoke work related activities that we designed. Everyone started on a level playing field in terms of familiarity (very few people will ever have experienced anything like this before!).
After the event the MD said, “I wanted to drop you both a very quick note to thank you again for our event. I know I speak on behalf of the whole team when I say we had a very enjoyable time and have come away with many tangible benefits as a result of the two days. The event was completely ‘inclusive’ for everyone and we loved every minute”.
As a result of our collaboration with Right Angle we found that anything “out of the normal day to day” included as part of any Team Building event not only needs to be engaging, but has to have clear and tangible benefits to the individual and the Company and be able to address specific objectives:

- Book an event suitable for the group, not just to impress the key influencer
- Ensure the venue is suitable
- Ensure you’re going to get good value for money
- Cheapest isn’t always the best, in fact in team building can be quite the opposite

How to get the best out of your event:
- Set clear objectives.
- Know what you want (management outcomes, fun etc)
- Go and check out the venue once you’ve booked it
- Work with a professional event organiser, to provide a stress-free, perfect event
- Choose something that is going to be memorable as well as something that will achieve all your aims.
